Making the workplace work
Workplace projects, weekly occupancy reporting, an Archibus-to-Power BI solution and an asset programme spanning 27 offices.
How it actually went.
The context
My placement in GRE Facilities & Operations spans day-to-day services and longer-term workplace changes across an international estate.
What I noticed
Workplace information has to be usable by the people making decisions, not simply recorded somewhere. The same goes for the information employees need when they arrive on campus.
What I did
I produced weekly occupancy analytics, developed automated reporting from Archibus data, and consolidated UPS maintenance, warranty and risk information for 27 offices in 7 countries. I also led development of a campus experience application bringing workplace resources together for employees, new starters, visitors and contractors.
What happened
The reporting solution and operational trackers support clearer workplace decisions. The asset programme gives internationally distributed information a central home; the campus application brings services and resources into one place.
What I learned
A useful system makes information easier to act on, whether the person using it is planning facilities work or finding their way around a campus.
What comes next
The placement is ongoing.
Good things often start with a conversation.
Have a question, an opportunity or a wonderfully complicated problem? I'd love to hear it.
