She Bakes
A baking business that went from 30 weekly deliveries to 270, and taught me that the oven is the easy part.
How it actually went.
The context
She Bakes LTD is a real operating business: orders, production, pricing, partnerships and the people waiting at the other end.
What I noticed
Every small system becomes visible when it's yours. A menu that costs too much to make, an order process that won't scale, a customer who found you through a video.
What I did
I reworked costs across more than 15 menu items, built a partnership with the University of Brighton, took on catering at a scale that needed real planning, and grew the business's Instagram from nothing.
What happened
Behind the numbers: a University of Brighton partnership now brings in £1K+ a year, around 22% of revenue, and Instagram grew from zero to 900+ followers, with three videos reaching 544K, 141K and 106K views.
What I learned
Making something is also the work of making it sustainable.
What comes next
Photographs and a closer look at the systems behind the kitchen are on their way.
Good things often start with a conversation.
Have a question, an opportunity or a wonderfully complicated problem? I'd love to hear it.
